HTC One X+ vs iPhone 5

Introduction:

The HTC One X+ is shaping to be one of Android's battleships this season, thanks to its sped-up quad-core procesor and 64 GB of storage, so as always we are pitting it against the iOS flagship, Apple's iPhone 5.

Both handsets have sealed chassis, great LCD screens, and 8 MP cameras, but they target different categories of users from the onset with the size gap. What other differences are there between the two? Read on our comparison to find out...

Samsung ATIV S vs HTC Windows Phone 8X

Samsung ATIV S vs HTC Windows Phone 8X
Introduction

Microsoft has finally released the first batch of Windows Phone 8 handsets, and since we happen to be in possession of two of those, it seemed only natural to us to make a quick comparison between them. In the blue corner today we have the Samsung ATIV S, while in the red corner we have the HTC Windows Phone 8X – a smartphone that the guys from Redmond seem to be pushing really hard these days.

With both phones being almost identical to one another in terms of software, their biggest differentiating factor will now be their appearance, (screen) size, and whatever little exclusive content/apps they have managed to pack.

HTC J Review (Our Rating - 8/10)

HTC J Review

Introduction:

The HTC J is an interesting device. But first, we have to make it clear - this is not the HTC J Butterfly, the 5-inch 1080p monster phone that you might have heard of. Rather, this is a more ordinary smartphone, but still one that can stand its ground.

With a 4.3-inch qHD screen and a dual-core Snapdragon S4, the HTC J looks much like the HTC One S. The similarity is no coincidence as the HTC J is a device targeted squarely at the Asian market with WiMAX connectivity, a feature the One S does not support. This makes it a kind of a niche product on one hand, made to please the quickly diminishing category of WiMAX users, but on the other hand it is also offered unlocked in other markets as simply a 3G phone.

With some level of water protection, larger battery and a funky red paint job among other colors, this device has plenty of reasons to exist on its own even as unlocked. Let’s see if all this actually could make it desirable for more people.

HTC One X+ Review : Our Rating 9/10

HTC One X+ Review

Introduction:

The HTC One X+ is a decked-up version of the One X, which shipped as the first phone with a quad-core processor back in the spring, but arrived on US soil with a dual-core Snapdragon S4. With the One X+, both the US and international versions sport a 1.7 GHz quad-core Tegra 3+ processor.

The upgrade was necessitated by the competition going into the holiday season, and with the most generous internal memory amount from all flagships at launch, Android Jelly Bean, plus the upgraded processor and battery capacity, the One X+ can stand its ground against threats like the Galaxy S III or the Optimus G. Does the upgrade warrant the higher price, though? Read on to find out...

HTC Windows Phone 8X Review

HTC Windows Phone 8X Review

Introduction:

Out of the woodworks, Microsoft is about to embark in yet another chapter in its mobile platform story. Rightfully so, they have a lot of support from longtime smartphone manufacturers who believe that there is a budding growth worth investing with Windows Phones. In fact, we all know way too well how there has always been a symbiotic relationship between the Redmond based company and Taiwanese handset maker HTC.

Would you believe that it has been over six months since our eyes last feasted upon a Windows Phone device from HTC? For those of you who might’ve forgotten, which shouldn’t be too surprising considering Window Phone device releases have been non-existent of late, it was none other than the HTC Titan II. Now that Windows Phone 8 is making a big push, the Taiwan based company is banking to see its HTC 8X being the premier smartphone for the platform out of the gate. Indeed, it’s treading a different path with its out-of-character design, but will it be enough to compete in the ring with some of today’s heavy hitters in the business?

HTC Edge may be one of the first quad-core smartphones

While we all anxiously await the arrival of the Asus Transformer Prime tablet which will reportedly pack the Tegra 3 quad-core processor, it appears as though a device from HTC known as the Edge may be one of the first smartphones to feature a quad-core of its own.

If the rumored specs of the HTC Edge turn out to be true, then what we have here is quite the beast of a handset. The Edge is a slab-style Android device, possibly of the Ice Cream Sandwich type. It has a 4.-7-inch 720p HD display which is sure to make this device a media powerhouse. On the back of the smartphone is said to be an 8 megapixel camera that will surely record video in 1080p HD while a front-facing camera also appears to be present.

What is most exciting about this device is the real possibility that it will pack a 1.5GHz Tegra 3 quad-core processor. That would make it the first smartphone of its kind. Along with the rumored quad-core the Edge will also have 1GB of RAM. The only question that needs to be asked is will the Android platform be able to take advantage of the Tegra 3? Similar questions have been raised about the Asus Transformer Prime which appears to be only a few months away from hitting the market.

The quad-core processor might not be the only first for the HTC Edge. HTC may be overlaying the Android operating system with the newest version of their custom user interface, Sense 4.0. Moreover, given HTC’s recent acquisition of the Beats audio enhancing technology and its inclusion in smartphones such as the HTC Sensation XE and the upcoming HTC Rezound it wouldn’t be a surprise to see it in the Edge as well.

Unfortunately the HTC Edge will not be around for a while, certainly not in time for the holidays. It will likely release in Q1 or Q2 of 2012. Tell us what you think of the HTC Edge in the comments below.
